Denmark defeated Germany – the hosts are out
In the evening program in Magdeburg, Denmark met the hosts Germany in the 1/8 finals of the IHF Women’s Handball World Championship. Denmark was ahead right from the first minutes of the game: even though the German defense worked well, the attacks of the hosts were struggling against the Danish wall and the excellent Sandra Toft. After the first half, the Danish team was already 4 goals ahead of the hosts in Magdeburg, for the great sadness of the German fans (7-11). There was no change in the game in the second half. Denmark was playing confidently while the German team didn’t have enough to turn the match around. The Danish girls were in complete control of the game and won the match (17-21). The hosts say goodbye to the competition – the last week of the world championship will be played without Germany. Denmark will meet Sweden in the quarterfinals.
